Duck Hunt with Billy and Kevin

This morning was pretty normal starting out. It was about 33 around 5 am when we set out to go to Cannons Creek landing to hunt. I went along with Billy and Kevin to get some pics of the hunt. The water was low and the wind started to pick up some while getting the boat out, so we went to a small cove just outside of the river joining the backwater to stay out of the wind. The sun rise was breath taking, and the decoys looked beautiful in the water that had a pale blue hue to it at sunrise.

Then we waited for the hunt to begin.

We saw several gaggles of geese just out of shooting range, but i enjoyed hearing Billy talking back to them as they flew by.

Then after we had some chill time, a fisherman decided to come along side of us and fish. After Billy spoke to him he decided to go on the other side of us and harass another set of duck hunters. Then once they moved away from the fishermen, he decided to come back to us. By 10:30 we had enough and gathered our gear. Then we came around the bend, and hit white caps on the water.

Miles' Catfish

Miles and Uncle Bill went fishing early, Friday June 18th for catfish. This was Miles first trip all by himself and with Uncle Bill fishing. So for the occassion he got a "big guy" fishing rod and a tackle box. Needless to say it was a pretty good day. They about 30 fish in total but only 5 keepers, with Miles' catch being the biggest of the day and a nice prize for Miles.

Second Try

We went to the public dove field in Chester this Saturday. Had a blast even though we only got 8 birds. Ryan had a total of three birds and Billy claimed the rest. Most of the hunt was spent joking and goofing off. But it was a fun day. We even got to pose with the local game warden. Hopefully the season will get better.

Dove Shoot: Sept. 1, 2008

Well, Dove Season is offically in. Labor day the boys had a shoot at the farm. Even Miles got into the action. Even though we didn't max out, we had fun. 8 birds in total, but we have a another round Saturday.
